Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) sponsored the first programming competition on December 29, 2018. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering worked with the Office of Teaching Affairs to organize this competition, in conjunction with the Procedure Competition Team and the Database Task Force.

This competition attracted 271 undergraduate students and 5 master students from SUSTech as well as 5 programming contestants from Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen). The rules of the competition were consistent with the International Collegiate Programming Competition (ICPC).

After four hours of competition, numerous awards were issued. One special award was issued, along with 24 first prizes, 50 prizes for second place, 75 prizes for third place and 9 fastest problem-solving prizes (9 questions in total).

Director of Office of Teaching Affairs Huang Kefu, said a key task of testing student’s knowledge is to organize subject-related competitions. This is not only the first intra-school programming competition but the first intra-school academic competition organized by SUSTech. SUSTech will continue to support academic subject-related competitions in order to help student gain skills through competition.
