All SUSTech Teams Received Awards at Guangdong Collegiate Programming Contest
Recently, the 16th “Zhongzhi Cup” Guangdong Collegiate Programming Contest (GDCPC) was hosted by the Guangdong Division of China Collegiate Programming Contest (CCPC) at South China University of Technology (SCUT)’s University Town Campus. SUSTech entered the competition for the first time and sent seven teams. Competing with 215 Guangdong teams from 30 universities and two Guangxi teams from the Guilin University of Electronic Technology, all seven participating teams from SUSTech won awards, earning one gold medal, one silver medal, four bronze medals and one outstanding award. In winning a gold medal, SUSTech has broken the “gold medal monopoly” maintained by veteran universities of the contest at its first attempt.
Originating from the International Collegiate Programming Contest hosted by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM-ICPC), the GDCPC was organized by the Computer Academy of Guangdong Province (GDCA) and the School of Software Engineering at SCUT. In its 16th year, GDCPC provides a platform for university students to highlight their programming talents, increase students’ interest and to improve their ability in programming and to create algorithms. The winners of the competition are selected to make up the teams for the ACM-ICPC Asia Division Preliminary Contest, to take place online in September before the onsite competition in Singapore in December.
