On the afternoon of September 10th 2017, SUSTech held the 2017 Teachers’ Day Award Ceremony, prize-winners of 2017 ”Excellent Teaching Awards”, “ Excellent Research Awards”, “ Excellent Tutor Awards”, “Administrative Service Awards” were awarded during the ceremony. School’s Party secretary GUO, Yurong, President CHEN, Shiyi and academicians, leaders of each department, representatives of staff and faculty attended the ceremony.

GUO, Yurong delivered the address during the ceremony. She extended warm congratulations to awarded teachers on behalf of the university staff, and expressed sincere holiday greetings towards all the staff and faculty, appreciated the joint contributions to the development of school made by all the staff. She said, teachers are precious treasures of the university, who are considered as the key forces driving the school’s development. University should respect and serve every teacher, enhancing and improving service insurance work in a further step, completing incentive mechanisms and management mechanisms, make the best effort to create a better working condition, a more comfortable living condition and a developing space for every teacher working in SUSTech.

On the awarding ceremony, Excellent Teaching, Outstanding Teaching, Outstanding Research Award, Distinguished Research Award, Excellence Administration Service Award, Outstanding Administration Service Award and Outstanding Tutor Award and etc. have been awarded. Prof. Hao Qi, Deputy Director of Department of Computer Science and Engineering was awarded “Outstanding Administrative Service Award”. Assistant Professor WANG, Qi was awarded as “Excellence Teaching Award”. Assistant Professor ZHANG, Jin was awarded “Excellent Tutor Award”. In addition, Prof. HAO, Qi was awarded as” 2017 Shenzhen Advanced Educator ( the only award winner of SUSTech in 2017 ) , the award was mainly selected by Shenzhen Education Bureau, is intended to honor the teaching administrative regulation workers who make great contributions to Shenzhen Education.

The award to several CSE teachers was not only the compliment towards their work, but also the recognition towards CSE Department, embodying that CSE Department attaches great importance to teaching, promoting education as the foundation. CSE Department not only provided large number of CSE major courses, but also provide classes for university compulsory courses, such as Java Programming and so on, building up solid foundation for teaching of SUSTech.

Chen Shiyi concluded the event with a final speech. He thanked all the professors and once more congratulated the winners of the various awards for their success. He mentioned that the award-winning professors were still young, very professional and represented the spirit of the younger generation which has become the beacon of academic excellence. In recent years the university has developed at an incredible speed and obtained a long list of achievements. That is all inseparable from the hard work and dedication of the professors, departments and faculty. He said that greatness doesn’t only lie in the determination of the university, nor of Shenzhen, but also and most importantly in the determination of each faculty member who has joined the development of SUSTech and decided to become a part of its story. The mission which professors are entrusted in is a sacred and proud one, and Chen wished the best to all faculty in the new academic year, with fresh efforts to create a new and better future for SUSTech.
