SUSTech Computer Science and Engineering

  • Basic Information and Talent Development

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) was established in 2016. It currently offers two undergraduate programs: Computer Science and Technology and Intelligent Science and Technology, along with a first-tier doctoral program in Computer Science and Technology.

Since its establishment, the department has cultivated a total of 1,293 undergraduate graduates, 257 master's graduates, and 78 doctoral graduates.

  • Research Platforms and Industry-Academia Collaboration

The department has established several provincial and municipal-level research platforms, including the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Brain-like Intelligent Computation. It has also engaged in extensive industry-academia collaboration and talent development programs with leading enterprises such as Huawei and Tencent.

  • Faculty Strength

The department currently has 32 full-time faculty members, all of whom have study or work experience at renowned overseas universities. Their expertise covers diverse research fields including:

  • Artificial Intelligence and Big Data

  • Computer Architecture

  • Internet of Things

  • Software Engineering

  • Cryptography

Among the full-time faculty, there are:

  • 3 IEEE Fellows

  • 13 national-level talents

  • 11 individuals listed among the Top 2% of Most-Cited Scientists Worldwide

  • Academic Achievements and Rankings

In 2022, the Computer Science discipline at SUSTech entered the ESI global top 1%.

According to the 2023 Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject:

  • SUSTech's Computer Science was ranked 176-200 globally.

  • It was ranked 13th in Mainland China.

  • The International Outlook indicator ranked 2nd in Mainland China.

  • It received an A grade in the Chinese Subject Rating.

  • Future Vision

In the future, the CSE Department at SUSTech will remain committed to fostering virtue through education and persisting in reform and innovation. It aims to cultivate top-notch innovative talents in computer science who possess "national sentiment, global vision, comprehensive literacy, and innovative capabilities." The department is striving towards the goal of building a world-class computer science discipline and will contribute to the innovative development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Shenzhen Pilot Demonstration Zone.
