Students from SUSTech won the Bronze Award in the 2017 ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest Asia East Continent League Final

From December 16th to 17th 2017, the ACM International Collegiate Programming Competition Asia East Continent League Final (ACM-ICPC ECL Final) was held successfully at Shanghai University. The competition brought together 329 teams from well-known Asian universities with Tsinghua University, Peking University, Shanghai JiaoTong University, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology included, in which more than 1,100 participants took part. Through the fierce competition, the Assistant Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of our school, Dr. Tang Bo, the team named “South of Pengcheng” directed by Assistant Professor Tangbo from our school CSE Department, consisting of undergraduate students Huang Bo, He Qiyang and Zhu Yonglin, went to the competition site and won the bronze medal. Asia East Continent League Final are proposed by Google.The teams took part in the competition are ones that stood out from the regional competitions (Asian Regional Competitions, Shenyang Division, Qingdao Division, Beijing Division, Nanning Division, Urumqi Division, and Hong Kong Division). The competitions are more intense, the medal turns out to be more worthwhile.

In addition, organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering Department of Southern University of Science and Technology, directed by Assistant Professor Tang Bo, the ACM-ICPC training team of SUSTech, which was responsible for the competition training, held the first training team meeting before the competition. The meeting introduced the members and vision of the training team. It also arranged the training content of the month. The topic was “Application of the bisection method in algorithmic competitions”.
