The major declaration and teacher-student meeting of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering were held successfully

From February 28th to March 2nd, 2018, the three-day CSE major declaration and teacher-student meeting have been successfully held at the Teaching 1 building of Southern University of Science and Technology. In order to introduce the CSE department to students, the activities have been divided into three sessions: major declaration for freshmen, major declaration for sophomore students and teacher-student meeting for junior CSE students.

The major declaration for freshmen and sophomores were held in a classroom of teaching building. Prof. Hao Qi, deputy director of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, gave a introduction of CSE. At the beginning of the activity, Prof. Hao started from the background of the fourth industrial revolution and began to talk about the industrial structure of Shenzhen and the fourth industrial revolution. It encouraged students to choose CSE majors based on their own interests and trends. Then, Prof. Hao introduced the faculty of the department and the research area of each professor of the computer department.

 

Finally, he introduced the practical selection of practical courses such as computer program training program and course selection guidance, credit mutual recognition system, assessment course and teaching management system.

On March 2nd, Prof. Yao Xin, Prof. Wang Qi, Prof. Zhang Jin, Prof. Wang Qi, Prof. Tang Bo and Prof. Zhang Yuqun introduced their research directions and existing research projects respectively, attracting students to select innovative experimental projects according to their interests, and encourage students to practice scientific research and employment skills by entering the laboratory. After the meeting, the students had a lively exchange with the teachers.
