SUSTech-UTokyo Joint Research Center on Super Smart Cities

The SUSTech-UTokyo Joint Research Center on Super Smart Cities (Joint Center) has been established as a representative international education center for South University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) to build up a deep international cooperation with the University of Tokyo(U-Tokyo), under the background of the development of double zone driving innovative science and technology industry as well as in the situation of new educational globalization in Shenzhen, China. 

UTokyo Chinese Government Friendship Award winner, a committee member and senior consultant expert of Prime Minister’s Office and Cabinet Office of Japan, as well as an internationally renowned expert in the field of spatial information and smart city, Professor Ryosuke Shibasaki, takes up the post of Director of the Joint Center. 

The Joint Center will focus on basic research on advanced technologies that relate to smart cities such as artificial intelligence, big data, the Internet of Things (IoT), and 5G. These fields will serve major social needs such as intelligent pubic transport and urban perceptions. It will seek to build an innovative and world-class cooperation platform that aims to develop Shenzhen into a world-class digital smart city demonstration zone. The Joint Center will ultimately make significant contributions to society.
